Hike to Pastukhov Rocks (4 800/ 15 416 feet) and return to the Low Hut.

Rest day.
Rest day before summit push.

Day 7

Summit Day.
We’ll leave camp via Sno-Cat at 3 a.m. and ride to the Pastukov Rocks area. From the rocks, we’ll begin our summit ascent. It is a long day; look for a 12-hour round-trip climb. From the summit, we’ll have excellent views of the Caucuses, including Ushba, the Matterhorn of the region.

Extra day at huts for inclement weather. Return to the valley, night in the hotel at Terskol village.

Everything from the acclimatization hikes, to the superb food at base camp, to our fearless leader Sergey…it was excellent. I can’t say enough about Sergey, as well as his assistants. I thought the logistics were well planned and executed. I truly enjoyed it from beginning to end (despite the 10 hours we spent in the white-out/blizzard). It was most certainly an experience I will never forget.
