Mount Adams is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Range. It is the second-highest mountain in the state of Washington. Glaciers cover a total of 2.5% of Adams' surface, the mountain has 12 officially named glaciers. In the area surrounding Mount Adams, hundreds underground caves have formed around inactive lava vents. Mountain’s slopes are covered with coniferous forests, from 2000 meters start alpine meadows and moraines, in adjacent areas a system of hundreds of deep and spacious caverns is formed. Volcano’s summit is almost completely flat, on a fine day from there opens a view to all neighboring volcanoes of the Cascade Mountains. Despite the reputation of the "family" mountain among pro climbers, you have to keep in mind the possible dangers and risks: earthquakes, avalanches and mudslides are not excluded from happening. During recent years one of its craters had been producing weak activity as well.
