Ninety percent of all mountaineering interest in Southern Andes is centered on Mount Aconcagua rising above the all South American continent. But besides of Aconcagua there are a lot of other beautiful mountains located in Southern Andes. For example, the Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy in Patagonian Andes are still the great challenge for the distinguished climbers. Hikers also will find here a lot of awesome hiking routes there.

The Southern Andes are divided into the two main parts - the southern part (or Argentina-Chile Andes) and the northern (or Patagonian Andes). The Argentina-Chile Andes consist of three ranges - the Coastal Cordillera, the Main Cordillera (or Cordillera de los Andes) and the Central Valley. Mount Aconcagua (6962 meters) is the highest summit of South America and located in the Main Cordillera. There are some more distinguished mountains located in northern part of the South Andes such as Cerro Tupungato (6570 meters) and Cerro Mercedario (6770 meters). The Patagonian Andes is lower than Argentina-Chile Andes - the highest mountain there is the Mount San Valentin (4058 meters).
