    The most beautiful mountain trekkings of Africa are here. Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa is not unlike any other mountain systems of the world: the peaks coexist with flat tops, and rainforests with meadows and savannas. There is a version that these places inspired Tolkien, who was actually born in South Africa, to write his famous "Lord of the Rings ." The highest peaks and most amazing views are all near the border area between Lesotho and Natal provinces. Here tower rocks, towering over the sand contrasting foothills and green meadows.

    The highest mountain range in South Africa. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2000. Drakensberg is a rocky massif, beautifully cut by numerous rivers. Drakensberg Mountains are characterized by table tops, jagged peaks and steep slopes stepped plateau.
