    Ninety percent of all mountaineering interest in Southern Andes is centered on Mount Aconcagua rising above the all South American continent. But besides of Aconcagua there are a lot of other distinguished mountains located in Argentina-Chili Andes such as Tupungato and Mercedario.

    The Argentina-Chile Andes consist of three ranges - the Coastal Cordillera, the Main Cordillera (or Cordillera de los Andes) and the Central Valley. Mount Aconcagua (6962 meters) is the highest summit of South America and located in the Main Cordillera. There are some more distinguished mountains located in northern part of the South Andes such as Cerro Tupungato (6570 meters) and Cerro Mercedario (6770 meters).

    The Argentina-Chile Andes mostly located in Argentina but their coastal part belongs to Chili. The northern border of this mountain range extends up to 27 degrees south latitude, and the southern border - at 40 degrees south latitude.

    The subtropical climate of the Argentina-Chile Andes is gradually changed to the temperate oceanic climate when you drive from the north to the south. The climate of Southern Andes is very humid and the fluctuations of seasonal temperature are insignificant.
