Mountain Kongde Ri (6 187 m / 20 299 ft)

Peaks Kongde Rea is attractive for experienced climbers looking rarely visited trails in the low Himalayan peaks with convenient logistics.

Kwangde Ri is an impressive ridge of summits to the south-west of Namche Bazaar. Kwangde Ri is the collective name for the chain of peaks running west to east that includes Nup (6,035 m), Kwangde Lho (6,187 m), Kwangde Shar (6,011 m) ending at the lower, rocky Nupla (5,885 m), all of which are covered by the peak permit. It can be scaled by both the south and north faces. There are many routes climbing the various peaks but all have technical difficulties, especially from the steep northern side. Kwangde Lho, the tallest of the peaks was famously climbed by Jeff Lowe and David Breashears in 1982 via a difficult line on extremely steep ice and rock. Easier routes can be found on the less steep southern side which is reached via the secluded Lumding Valley which is in turn reached by crossing either the Moro La (4,343 m) or Lumding La (4,516 m).

Kongde Ri is located on the east end of the Lumding Himal 11 km from Namche-Bazaar and can be viewed by the trekking route through the Khumbu Valley to Namche Bazaar. Basecamp lies in the remote Lumding Valley.

Slowly decend to Phakding 8,700 ft. about 2 hr walk from Lukla, you will probably overnight here. The next morning after about 2-3 hours you will pass through Jorsale 9,100 ft. Here is where you will pay a fee and enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Parkand. You will then continue for another 2-3 hours up hill to the main Village of Namche Bazaar 11,300 ft. This is quite an elevation gain especially for those who have flown in. You should rest here one to two days, doing small side trips ect. to acclimitize. From here you will have to decend back down south to the river floor and cross over to head to the base of Kwangde.

There are permits required. These can be arranged by yourself or the firm that you hire to support your team.
