Classic climbing route on relatively low for the Himalayas, but high by world standards, peak. Mera Peak is second only to Island Peak (6,173 m) in popularity with nearly 6,000 people attempting it between 2006 and 2010.  Its popularity comes from the fact that five of the world’s 14, 8,000 m mountains are visible in the near distance from the summit and getting to the summit from base camp is considered not much more than a mountain walk across a crevassed glacier.

Mera Peak is officially considered the highest of trekking peaks in Nepal. It is extremely popular - it is high - much higher than most peaks in America and any mountain in Europe, but at the same time it is not technically difficult. Measure peak earlier categorized as F (Facile / Easy) class summit, but due to the formation of cracks in the final 30-40 meters the grade rose to the category PD (Peu difficile/not very hard). However its high altitude must be respected, and acclimatisation must be done at the recommended pace ideally reaching the summit 12 days after leaving Lukla. Many people fail to reach the summit because of this – there is no quick way to climb a mountain of this height. In addition the Mera Peak trek is superb in it’s special beauty - the Hinku and Hongu valleys are spectacular Himalayan wilderness. There is an amazing panorama of five of the six highest peaks in the world: Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. Mera contains three main summits: Mera North (6,476 m/21,247 ft); Mera Central (6,461 m/21,198 ft), and Mera South (6,065 m/19,898 ft), as well as a smaller "trekking summit", visible as a distinct summit from the south but not marked on most maps of the region. On the north side of the mountain are the simplest and most popular climbing routes through Mera La (5415m) pass – mostly the way lies through high altitudes snow closed glaciers without crapes. From the pass Mera La you can see a panorama of Kanchenjunga, Chamlang, Makalu, Baruntse, Everest, Lhotse South, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu and Kangtegu.
