Gastro Hike in the Ecuadorian Highlands

We will depart from Quito in the morning, and drive through the spectacular “Avenue of the Volcanoes". On our way we'll see more than 20 big volcanoes. It'll take us about 2 hours to ge to Tambopaxi Lodge in the Cotopaxi National Park. Here we'll try a local welcome drink called "Canelazo" and eat “empanada de viento”.

After we're done eating and drinking, we'll start hiking inside the Cotopaxi National Park, where we'll have a chance to watch local wildlife, walk across ancient lava flows of Cotopaxi volcano eruptions. These landscapes are unique, and some even compare to moon's landscapes! During our hike we'll also visit an important archeological site from the Incas, a civilization which was here 500 years ago.

After the hike, we'll drive outside the National Parl to a local restaurant where we'll have lunch - a fresh giant river trout served with local local products on the side, and blueberry wine.

After lunch we'll have more hiking through the valley along Pita River, canyons and waterfalls. Besides, we'll appreciate Andean Forest, which has many different species of ancient trees and endemic birds and animals.

At the very end of the day we'll visit another local restaurant for a traditional dinner with local dishes and drinks. After that we'll drice back to Quito and end our experience there.
