Description

Ghorepani is a small village in Mygadi district of northwestern Nepal. Popular for its scenic and cultural beauty, Ghorepani is one of the most trekked regions in Nepal by internal and external tourists alike. Its easy nature coupled with intense gratification has contributed to thousands of tourists flocking the region every year. Despite the buzz that comes with popularity, the region has successfully retained its old mountain charm and beauty intact. It was opened to trekkers only in the 1970s and is protected commendably under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.

The 7-days-long journey begins with a scenic bus ride to Pokhara in Kaski district from Kathmandu. The country’s no. 1 tourist destination in itself, Pokhara is also the gateway to several trekking regions in western Nepal. From Pokhara, we will drive a short distance to Nayapul from where our trekking will commence. We will trek to Ghorepani and Pun Hill via a small Gurung village called Tikhedhunga. While trekking down from Pun Hill, we will use a different route to further enrich the trekking experience. We will trek down to Pokhara via villages of Tolka and Kande. From Pokhara, we will drive back to Kathamandu for a cultural city tour scheduled for the next day. Finally, the Ghorepani Pun Hill Trek comes to end here.

Ghorepani Pun Hill Trek is rightly one of the most popular and beautiful trekking routes in Nepal, as it offers splendid mountain views without the hassle of trekking to very high and demanding altitude. The trek is also known as Annapurna Panorama Trek since it offers stunning views of peaks above 8,000m elevation like Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna 1 and Mt. Nilgiri. The main highlight of the trek is a hike to Pun Hill – a famous viewpoint in the western region. From here, trekkers can relish in a 360-degree view of over 20 silver peaks, the Pokhara valley and Mustang region. Sunrise and sunset views from Pun Hill are truly magnificent as it is almost surreal to behold the sunlight painting the silver peaks tangerine.

Another gratuity of Ghorepani Pun Hill Trek is that it unlocks the doors to some of the most interesting civilizations in Nepal. Throughout the trek and in Ghorepani and Pun Hill, we can witness the interesting and rich culture of the Gurungs, Puns, and Magars – famous as Gurkhas for their bravery throughout the world. We can visit the local museums, community houses, cultural centers, and interact with the locals on an individual basis to further know about their culture, civilization, and heritage,

The trekking trail strikes a perfect balance between the altitude range, vegetation, and climate to make it a memorable trekking experience. The trek is of only moderate difficulty and is suitable for people of all age groups in good health. Since the trekking duration isn’t long, it is also a suitable trekking choice for individuals who cannot allocate good number of days for a vacation. However, for individuals wishing to extend their journey, we readily customize the trekking package.
