Two days trekking through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and visit the mystery of the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu.

The trekking in the Sacred Valley is available for people don't have enough time to book or hike the classical 2 or 4 days Inka trail to Machu Picchu. This is the stronger reason why PERU ADVENTURE TOURS offer treks and camping in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

After 2005 the famous Inca trail becomes more crowded and more expensive, hikers are becoming more adventurous and exploring alternatives great trails in the Sacred Valley.

The Sacred Valley offer colourful legends, myths are still alive and much of their infrastructure such as agricultural terraces and irrigation system, archaeological sites, fortress, sold villages and towns and churches still exist today.

Day 1

CUSCO-CHINCHERO-MORAY-MARAS-OLLANTAYTAMBO-AGUAS CALIENTES
At 7AM pick up from the hotel and travel with tour guide by private van Chincheros, this transfer takes 50 minutes approximately, from the top you will see spectacular panoramic view of Vilcanota Mountain range.
First we drive to Chincheros through nice countryside, visit the archaeological site, which display a great mixture of both Inca and Colonial buildings style. Continue descending driving to Moray, this a colonial town located in middle of nature, from here we started our trekking in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The trek will be through green hills and viewing amazing landscape of the mountain in the other side of Urubamba River.
Arrive to Moray agricultural laboratory, the tour guide will takes you into these circular terraces and explain their function, which were built by the Incas, were used as a seed-producing area for the principal crops of the empire, like potato and maize.
Continue hiking through variety of crops grown by the local farmers we will arrive to a nice viewpoint, from where we have wonderful panoramic view of Urubamba and Ollantaytambo canyon. Lunch will be served in middle of nature, our cook will prepare our country lunch.
Two more hours hiking on the trail used by locals arrive to Maras Salineras, we spend some time on the salt pans, our guide will explain you how is the process to work the salt, who they transport the salt from the mine to Maras.
After visit this amazing salt pans continue descending to the bottom of the Sacred Valley, along the way down we need to be ready to appreciate some Andean birds such as hummingbirds, falcons and other type of birds.
After 5 or 6 hours and around 17km of nice trekking arrive to Urubamba River and then we cross this river through hanging bridge. On the other side of the river will be waiting the van to pick up and drop us to Ollantaytambo train station.
Around 4pm aboard the train to Aguas Calientes, the bottom town of Machu Picchu. If time permit OPTIONAL visit the thermal baths located next of town. Overnight in a comfortable hotel with private bathroom and hot shower (L - D).

Day 2

AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
At 5AM breakfast and half hour later aboard the first tourist bus to drop us to Machu Picchu main door, and to be the first visitors inside Machu Picchu archaeological site you will have complete guided tour of this spectacular and mystical place. The guided tour include walk through the different section such as urban, agriculture, and the religions zone was used by the Inca Culture. According withthe time and your feeling you can coordinating with the tour guide climb to Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain) this climbing take around 1 hour to get the summit from where you can have the best view for photos of all Machu Picchu and of deep green canyon surrounding the sacred Inca City. At according time descend to Machu Picchu and then free time to explorer on your own. At mentioned time aboard a tourist bus to descend to Aguas Calientes town. OPTIONAL lunch will be in town and then we will aboard the backpacker train to Ollantaytambo (Sacred Valley) and from here we take a private van to drop us to the hotel in Cusco (B).
