Classical ski-tour program for experienced riders in Khibiny Mountains, Russia. Considerable volume of ski-tour ascents, radical relief and non-decorative freeride. Included the climb to the highest peak of Khibiny Yuduchvumchorr Mount; descent in Orlinuy Couloir, night at the mountain hostel. Snowmobile support for far located slopes is included too. There is no day of rest in the program. A week is organized in best way to rotate ski-tour and practise days. Amount of lectures is minimised. Instead of lectures - short practical advises during the program. Common conception of program stays invariable - small but chipper group, adequacy, environmental friendliness and enjoyment in all conditions.
Professional level of participants and rules of group forming
The program supposes confident skiers and skilful splitboarders who have
an experience in off-piste skiing, skills of work with ski-tour and avalanche equipment.
The number of participants is limited. 5 clients + 1 guide.
Nothing personal, it’s necessary to form a group with just about the same level. Participants should have enough skills for safe and pleasant free ride in our mountains. That’s why requests can be turned aside.
A level of participant considered sufficient if it’s easy for him:
make a descent along the lift in own temp, without falls and stops (vertical drop 400 m)
make a 10-15 km walk or ski-tour in average speed

Ski touring in Russia. March 2019
Dates: 25 Mar 2018 to 30 Mar 2018
Skiing and hiking one week with our Guide Sergey in the area of Kibiny Mountain was one of the best winter experiences I have ever made. Sergey knows the mountains like no one else, writes every day a snow diary to evaluate the avalanche risk and choose the right tour. To be honest, I have never seen this professional level of alpinism in any guided tours in Austria. I had the feeling that safety is most important but this does not mean that the fun is reduced, you will have indeed runs you will never forget. As European you should know that Sergey‘s English is not the best but together with his Girlfriend, who often joins the tours, the communication is fine. The best is when you know some russian basics. We will definitly come back.....

Khibiny is a very atmospheric place and I've been lucky to discover it for myself last March guided by Sergei Shestikhin. Mountain area is relatively "small" but increadibly packed with a great variety of couluars and relief features, which makes it a rather interesting playground. And Sergey is "The Man", who know this playground to its best and helped us to discover it to best possible. The program is indeed well balanced with warm-up / adventure / resort / challange days. Of course, weather dictaites the final schedule, and Sergey as a guide follows it really closely. No shortcuts on safety, no chaces "what if" - he does know and actively use safe practicies of avanache-free behavior in the mountains. So, prepare for cold humid mornings, intense traverses and spectacular colouars.

Had a pleasure of spending a week in Russian arctic tundra ski-touring with Sergey and another 5-6 participants. Sergey has exceptional knowledge of the Khibiny area, and, combined with his awareness of snow and weather conditions, you get exciting, adventurous, and, most importantly, safe trips every day. The program is professionally organized - no cutting corners or leaving things to chance. Under Sergey's guidance, I was able to ski couloirs that were terrifying at first. Highly recommend the program and the guide. Be ready to cold conditions but let it not stop you.
