Beluga attracts both experienced climbers and beginners for several reasons. Altay region is known for its beauty and inaccessibility. The authentic and colourful route lies away from roads - for example, equipment is carried to the basecamp on horseback. At the same time the expedition here is relatively inexpensive. Climbing route is interesting and challenging, requiring good physical conditions and basic mountaineering skills. In addition, it is believed that the snow-white pearl mountain rises among the boundless sea of taiga – is the beating heart of the Altai, a "place of mystical power" that gives energy to one that comes here. According to that, fairy Belukha is not just a mountain as an average object for climbing.

The highest mountain of Altai Mountains. Belukha is one of the highest peaks in Russia, and the highest of the Altai Mountains. Belukha is a twin summits mountain. They are divided with wide and flat Col. The eastern peak (4,506 m, 14,784 ft.) is higher than the western (4,440 m, 14,567 ft.).There are several small glaciers on the mountain, including Belukha Glacier. East Summit of Belukha is far more accessible and consequently climbed more often than the West one. Altai is famous by the instability of its weather conditions and all climbing activities are highly dependent on the weather and often even easy routes become unclimbable because of snow and high winds. Though the Altai is lower in elevation than other Asian mountain systems, it is very remote, and much time and planning are required for its approach.
