Isolated mountain range, the fourth highest in the Armenian Highland and the highest in modern Armenia. The mountain is 4090 meters high. Massif stretches from east to west and 40 km from north to south - up to 35 km. Perimeter of massif is about 200 km. Aragats is a stratovolcano. It has four peaks, the highest - North (4090 m), the height of the western - 4007 m, East - 3916 m, South - 3879 m. Between the peaks there is a volcanic crater depth of 350 m and a width of 2.5 km. On one of the slopes Aragats at an altitude 3190 m there is a lake Kari.
