Mountain Pisang Peak (6 091 m / 19 984 ft)

Classic climbing route on relatively low for the Himalayas, but high by world standards, peak. Interesting to those who have climbing skills (walking in crampons, rope work, ascender and figure eight), and wants to make the ascent of medium difficulty in Himalayas. Naturally there are fabulous views to be seen from the summit over the Manang Valley and the Annapurna Range.

Pisang Peak (Jong Ri) is a trekking peak in the Annapurna sanctuary region. While sometimes offered as a three day excursion from the village of Pisang, this can only be done if properly acclimatized. But it is not so easy since an avalanche ended climbing on the old route (South/Southwest Face) in 2005 which was a very non-technical peak. The new route (West Ridge) is challenging. Trekkers looking for a true trekkable peak may be more happy on Island Peak or a Chulu. However with some experience the New Route offers a very rewarding and ascetic climb.

Pisang peak (6,091 m) lies in Gandaki Region near the Town Pisang, 160 km from Kathmandu, north of the Manang Valley which the famous Annapurna Circuit passes through.

Drive from Kathmandu to the village Bulbulle (840m), where the trek to base camp begins and take the 4-5 day hike to Pisang along the standard (counter clockwise) Annapurna circuit route. Or drive a part og the route by car - the road for cars ends in Chame village (2651m), so you can start the route from there.
