Your Chance To Edit

Mount Kazbek is the sixth highest mountain of the European continent. This fact causes its popularity among climbers, as well as the picturesque Georgian and primordial nature.

Description Edit

The highest peak of Eastern Georgia, the third highest mountain in Georgia (after Mount Shkhara and Janga) and the seventh highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. Normal route passes from Georgia side. Technically ascent from this side is easier than from Russian side. The route to the summit of Mount Kazbek is not difficult, however 5000 meters altitude requires proper acclimatization. The main technical difficulty are the glacier crevasses and steep snow-ice slope above the saddle which sometimes requires fixed ropes. The unpredictable weather forecast also may add some headache.
