Mount Jefferson is a stratovolcano in the US state of Oregon, located in the heart of the Cascade Range. The height of its peak of 3199 meters makes it the second highest mountain in the state, and its impressive appearance - one of its main symbols. Image of this mountain constantly appears in various promotional photo and video materials of largest US companies' production. Volcano with nearby areas is formed in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness. There are one of the most difficult climbs among other peaks of the Cascade Range due to the rather steep iced slopes, stone falls and avalanches. The volcano is abundantly covered with glaciers - Whitewater, Waldo, Milk Creek, Russell and Jefferson Park.

It is situated in the far northeastern corner of Linn County on the Jefferson County line, with the lower reaches extending northward into southeastern Marion County. The mountain, about 105 miles (169 km) east of Corvallis, is in a rugged wilderness and is thus one of the hardest volcanoes to reach in the Cascades, though USFS Road 1044 does come within 4 miles (6.4 km) of the summit.

Mount Jefferson is easily accessed via United States Forest Service roads and trails leaving from Oregon State Highway 22. Two main approaches are Jefferson Park and Pamelia Lake approaches. Whitewater Trailhead: drive 59 miles east on OR-22 from Salem, OR. Turn left onto Forest Road 2243 and drive 7.6 miles to the trailhead. Pamelia Lake Trailhead: from the west, drive 60.7 miles east on OR-22, turn left on Pamelia Road and drive 3.7 miles to the trailhead.
