Muztagh Ata is one of the most popular 7000m peaks because of easy access, reasonable price permit, interesting location, close to the old Silk Road route and the beauty of nature is stunning. The main reason is probably Muztagh Ata's reputation being the easiest 7000m peak. The normal route is a straightforward climb without any technical section. However, do not forget about the high altitude and enormous wind that stil make it a hard target. There is no easy peak of that altitude.

It is one of the relatively easier 7,000 m peaks in the world to climb, due to its gentle western slope and the comparatively drier weather of Xinjiang. Muztagata has 16 glaciers. The largest of them - Koksel, located on the eastern slope, has a length of 21 km.

Muztagh Ata is located in China’s largest province; Xinjiang, It’s a desert province bordering to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Lies 40 km south of Kongur Tagh, the highest peak of the Kunlun Shan. Together they form a somewhat isolated group, separated from the main chain of the Kunlun, and also separate from the Pamir Mountains to the west.
