Is the highest point of Georgia, the third highest peak in the Caucasus (after Dykh-Tau and Elbrus). It attracts climbers because of complexity, and is a "yardstick" sportsmanship. One word - Shkhara - it's cool! Non-professionals doesn’t climb here often.

Shkhara is the high point and the eastern anchor of a massif known as the Bezingi (or Bezengi) Wall, a 12 kilometres (7 mi) long ridge. It is a large, steep peak in a heavily glaciated. Shkhara presents serious challenge to mountaineers. Classic route to Shkhara from northside is not as difficult technically as routes from South, but depending on the weather condition it may be almost impassable.

Located in the central part of the Greater Caucasus (Dividing) Range, in Svaneti (Georgia) from the south and Bezengi (Russia) to the north. Lies about 90 km north of the city of Kutaisi, Georgia's second largest city.
