    Mont Blanc massif Area – is a cult atmospheric place, the cradle of mountaineering. Here is the highest and the most famous mountain in Western Europe, and about 10 peaks and a wide variety of trekking and climbing routes. The Chamonix Valley is famous for its ice falls. In and around Chamonix you can find more than 200 routes for all levels and skills. The valley itself offers you more than 10 spots where you can use your crampons and ice axes. The Chamonix valley and Mont Blanc Massif are excellent for ski de randonnée (ski touring). Climbing in the Mont-Blanc massif and the Chamonix Valley means compact rock, high mountains, superb granite and miles of gneiss. Crags are usually equipped. Mountain routes may be partially equipped, but usually have at least abseil points in place.
