All climbers mostly goes to the Northern Andes because of its Ecuadorian highest volcanoes - Chimborazo and Cotopaxi. The Colombian trekking routes are also very attractive. Climbing season here is almost all-year-round except of two short monsoon periods. This feature and well developed infrastructure (including tour-agencies, mountain guides and huts) highly contribute to the travel industry of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.

The Northern Andes consist of several parallel ranges stretched from the north to the south (except of Caribbean Andes). Besides the Caribbean Andes there are two more ranges which belong to the Northern Andes - Ecuadorian Andes and Northwest Andes. The highest peaks of Northern Andes are covered by glaciers and snow caps. By the way, the Caribbean islands Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are the tops of the underwater Northern Andes mountains.
