The highest mountain range in South Africa. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2000. Drakensberg is a rocky massif, beautifully cut by numerous rivers. Drakensberg Mountains are characterized by table tops, jagged peaks and steep slopes stepped plateau.

• State of Lesotho, on whose territory the Drakensberg Mountains are – is a unique enclave in South Africa, limited with those mountains in the east and south. The routes here are the one of the best among all Africa.

 

• On the east cliffs of Drakensberg there are Tugela Falls formed by five separate stages. The largest of these, 411 m tall, overthrows 1 cubic meter per second. Total height of all the streams - 948 meters, which allows naming Tugela the second highest waterfall of the world after Angel (Venezuela).

 

• Versions of the name’s origin of Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa are covered by mysterious sense. According to one version, clouds and mist hanging over the slopes are the steam from a hot dragon breath.
According to another version the mountains got the name because of the wildness, inaccessibility
