    Due to an extensive railway system of the region, the Ural mountains have good transport accessibility, which in Soviet times made them popular. Despite the small height Ural mountains they are still very popular among tourists - a huge number of trekking routes and hiking. Places of climbers interest are famous mountains as Manaraga, Narodnaya and Sablya. Routes are mostly simple, but there are also some great wall here. The region is also popular among climbers due to granite massifs, such as Shehan.

    The Ural Mountains are very diverse - the relief and height in different parts of the system are very different. There are many flattened and rounded peaks along with narrow ridges. The Subpolar and Polar Ural have 143 glaciers and lot of snowfields. In the Ural Mountains are many caves (Divya Cave, Kungurskaya Cave, Kapova Cave), sinkholes, underground streams and rocky residual outcrops (Seven Brothers, Devil's Castle, Stone Tents).

    The mountain range is located between the East European and West Siberian plains. It extends from the Kara Sea across Russia almost to the border with Kazakhstan.
