We will meet up at Plaza Foch early in the morning and drive east for about 2 hours through the Andean highlands until we get to Laguna Santa Lucia at 4.300m end then off-road part until the base camp at 4.600m closely to the glacier. On the way we will see a lot of wild local animals and birds: condors, deers, wild horses, endemic birds, llamas, rabbits, hawks, eagles, Andean wolfs and many others species of wildlife.
Once there on the base camp, we will prepare our equipment and go up to the glacier to the climbing point at 4.850m. On the base of the glacier we will put our technical equipment on and start the ice practice. The first hour we will be introducing about how to handle the gear like ice axes, crampons, rope, some basic techniques regarding the first steps on a flat glacier terrain, then we will practice some moderate techniques on the steeper slopes and we will finish with an exacting ice climbing on a vertical walls, it will take us the whole day, we will get our lunch while we are on the glacier, and we will return to the car and drive back to Quito by late afternoon.
