ARRIVAL TO QUITO

Day 2

TOUR IN THE OLD CITY
In our second day, we will have the first meeting where we will discuss the following days of the trip and then, we will go visiting the old city of Quito. It is nowadays considered Humanity Heritage thanks to its architectural buildings. We will use this day as a first acclimatization day facing what awaits us.

Day 3

WALK UP TO 4.200 METERS IN PASOCHOA
This day starts with a car ride from Quito to the foot of the Pasochoa Mountain. We continue the trail by feet up to the summit. It will take us no less than 4 hours. We will eat a delicious lunch in the summit and then, we will descend to the base again. There will be a transfer that will take us back to Quito, where we’ll sleep.

Day 4

GUAGUA PICHINCHA HIKING TRAIL
Early in the morning we will drive during 2 hours up to the parking of our next trailhead. We will walk across a rocky cornice path until we are finally at the summit. The return will be through a negative drop that will lead us to the main trail. After a hard last walk we are in the parking again. Transfer to Quito.

Day 5

SUMMIT OF FUYA FUYA
After driving to Cayambe, a new challenge begins: reaching to 4.235 meters at Fuya Fuya summit. The total round trip will take us about 4 hours. We will sleep in a nice hostel in the area.

Day 6

CAYAMBE’S HUT
A car will transfer us to the refuge of Cayambe to start a new hike to its glacier. That will help us to practice some climbing techniques. We will dinner and rest early because the ascent to the summit began at midnight.

Day 7

SUMMIT DAY
Once we are up, we’ll start the walk across a bit harder route (rocks + sand) to the glacier. From here on, we need our technical equipment in order to climb a snowy positive vertical drop in a safe way. After 9 hours we are finally at the summit of the Cayambe Volcano.

Day 8

RESTING DAY
We are going to rest in the hostel called La Ciénaga. A beautiful place to spend the day and night and recover energies.

Day 9

GETTING TO THE HUT OF CHIMBORAZO
A new day await us after being transferred from Riobamba to Ambato. Once we are at the Chimborazo Hut, also know as Whymper’s hut, we have to decide what to do. We can choose staying there and ascending by the regular trail of Veintimilla. We as well can walk up to 5.100 meters and camp in Stubel.

Day 10

CHIMBORAZO TOP 6.310 METERS
A last effort that will really worth it. We start the hike at midnight again so that we can reach the objective in the morning. Once at the summit, you won’t believe such a vantage point. If the sky is clear you even can admire all the Ecuadorian Andes best peaks. After that, we continue with the descent to the hut and then, we head back by car to the Abraspungo Hostel. There, a dinner will welcome us to celebrate such amazing 12-day trip along the Ecuadorian Andes best peaks.

GOING BACK TO QUITO
We are again in Quito. We can rest, go shopping or visit other cultural places. Overnight in a hotel of the town.

END OF THE TRIP
We’ll take you to the airport so that you fly back home. You may can continue visiting this incredible country.
