Following program has been developed for nature lovers, who do not want to disclaim himself of the convenience of the hotel room in the evening after whole day walking. It is designed to present you the most beautiful and significant natural landmarks of Bulgaria, which are integral part of the schedule of every hiker who is heading toward Rila and Pirin mountains – the highest mountains of Bulgaria. On the fourth day is included visit to Rila Monastery – symbol of Bulgarian Christianity and revival. For this program you must possess moderate level of skills for hiking in the mountain.

Arriving and transfer to Rila mountain.
Arriving in Sofia. Depends on your arriving time you will have the opportunity to have a guided sightseeing walk through the center of Sofia, which will be postpone for the last day, if you arrive too late. Transfer to resort Panichishte in Rila mountain (1200m.alt). Overnight in cosy hotel.
Seven Rila Lakes – Malyovitsa.
Short transfer will bring us to the lower station of chair lift (1600m). With the lift we will reach hut Rilski ezera (2135м), where begins our hike. With a gentle ascent in the beginning and slightly steep path at the highest point we will climb the main ridge of the mountain. At this point we will savour the panoramic view of all seven lakes. Then we will head toward Mt. Malyovitsa. After passing peak Malyovitsa we will walk down along the valley where our transport will be waiting us. Transfer to village Govedartsi. Overnight in family hotel. Walking time 8 hours. Ascent – 650m/Descent – 900m.
Mt. Musala – highest point on Balkan peninsula.
Transfer to Borovets resort, where we will catch gondola lift to hut Yastrebets (2368m.) First part of the route today is almost flat, than follows ascent to the top – 2925m. Along our way we will pass several lakes and enjoy scenery views of surrounded rocky slopes. With the gondola lift we will go back to the starting point. Transfer to village Govedartsi. Walking time 7 hours. Ascent – 600m/Descent – 600m.
Crossing the mountain to Rila Monastery.
Short transfer will bring us to the bottom of Malyovitsa valley. The trail will lead us gently uphill to the highest point of 2500m, where we will cross the main ridge of the mountain. Then we will descent to place called “Kirilova polyan”(1470m), where our transport will be waiting for us. On our way we will pass several picturesque lakes and will be surrounded of grassy slopes and fields covered partially of dwarf mountainpine – protected plant species. Follows visit of Rila Monastery and transfer to village Bansko. Overnight in family run hotel. Walking time – 7 hours. Ascent – 600m./Descent – 1000m.
Mt. Vihren – the highest peak of Pirin Mountain
30min. transfer will bring us to the exit point of the path to our goal today. In 3 hours we will reach the highest point of 2914m. During the hike we will be surrounded of steep slopes and especially the wall of Mt. Vihren, which is object for alpinism. After break on the top we will descend back to the van. Overnight in Bansko. Walking time 6 hours. Ascent - 1000m. / Descent – 1000m.
Hike to Popovo lake and Mt. Dzhano
Popovo lake is the largest (13 200 sq.m.) and deepest (29.5m.) lake in Pirin mountain. Our hike today begins with chair lift, which will bring us to hut Bezbog (2240m.). The path to the lake is easy moving up and down. Once we have reached remains the ascent of Mt. Dzhano. Than follows downhill walk through the circus of Kremenski lakes. Continuing our descent we will reach the road where our transport will be waiting for us. Transfer to Bansko. Overnight in the same family hotel.
Back to Sofia
Transfer to Sofia. Sightseeing of the town, if it is not done in the first day. Free time. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
