At 5033 meters, mount Kazbek is widely considered to be the most impressive five-thousander of the Caucasus mountains.
Mount Kazbek (Mqinvartsveri, or "Glacier Peak", in Georgian) is one of the most prominent summits of the Caucasus mountains.
This 5033 meters dormant stratovolcano is located in the eastern part of Central Caucasus, on the border between Russia and Georgia, in the eastern part of the Khokh range.
Join me on a 7-day expedition to summit this mountain from Georgia.
Over the course of the trip, we will embark on several acclimatisation climbs of the nearby mountains, refine snow and ice climbing skills , cross the 7 km long Gergeti glacier flowing from the summit of Kazbek itself, and ascend this 5033 meters mountain.
