I would like to welcome you all to Mount Olympus. Our starting point is Gortsia (1100m) and our hiking will take about 3 hours, our final destination is refuge Petrostrouga (1945m.). The first 2 kilometers, the path passes through a dense beech forest that is switched with pine forest and at the end we will find a rare pine tree that is called “rombolo”. We should keep a low tempo and be sure that you are staying hydrated and that do eat something.
I promise you are going to enjoy the hiking and the stay at Petrostrouga refuge. Petrostrouga refuge is located on the second most common route of mount Olympus that leads to the Muses Plateau. While you are hiking up you can enjoy the lovely scenery and the rare flora, 1700 kind of species are endemic on mount Olympus, 25% of Greek flora.
You will have the opportunity to enjoy the astonishing panoramic view of Thermaikos gulf. At the night you can enjoy the breathtaking view with all the lights from the villages and towns just below the mountain, like Katerini, Litochoro, Platamonas. In the morning if you are likely and wake up early in the morning you can see the rises throughout of the Mount Athos.
After taking our breakfast, we will start our hiking to Muses Plateau. On the way to the Plateau, you will have the chance, at Skourta summit (2476μ), to feel like a real Greek God and delight yourself with a unique combination of magnificent blue of Greek sea and the throne of Zeus. We will have our break and take our refreshment in one refuge on the plateau of Muses (2600m) and continue our descending to Prionia (1100). Here our tour is over and if you want we can combine it with a cold beer, local cuisine and "rehabilitation" diving our feet into Enipea's icy water. (the meal is optional and has additional cost)
