It is an ancient and remote alternative path to the Inca Trail, has seen much more spectacular and diverse ecological walk among lakes, stunning snow capped Salkantay and Humantay, crossing rivers and abundant subtropical vegetation and fauna. This road is an excellent choice for those who want to escape the more congested routes and move more quickly, or for those who are looking for an alternative when traditional Inca Trail spaces are occupied.

This impressive tour goes under the magnificent mountain Salkantay (6,264m.), One of the highest and most impressive of the Peruvian Andes. The first two days will be dominated by the stunning snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay, while walking by the high Andean landscape. The third day descend to the warm cloud forest to reach Aguas Calientes the fourth day. The impressive sacred city of the Incas Machu Picchu is visited during the last day of the program. This tour is an interesting option for those who have not found space in the path of Inca Trail to Machu Picchu alternative. Day 1

CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA
Very early we leave Cusco, passing by the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo and after 3 hours of travel from Cusco we arrive at Mollepata – Marcoccasa (3200 m .s.n.m). In this place we will have breakfast at a local restaurant. Then we will start our walk to our first lunch spot. The first two hours we climb to 3700 m high, then we descend for one hour and thirty minutes to the first lunch place (Challacancha, 3720 m high) After lunch we continue the route between valleys, mountains and Humantay (5217 m.) and the Salkantay mountain (6264 m. S) for 3 hours until our first camp, Soraypampa (3800 m high). On this day after arriving at our camp, we have the option to visit a small lake that is about 4200 high. The route to this place is two hours of climbing and an hour and a half of descent.

Day 2

SORAYPAMPA – HUAYRAQMACHAY – CHAULLAY
This day we wake up very early (5:00 am) and have breakfast at 5:30 am, since this day will be the most difficult. After breakfast, we start the day hike, this will be a day full of adventures because it will be the day that we will cross the field in front of Salkantay mountain until arriving at the highest point of the passage of Salkantay (4600 m. S), from where we will be able to see all the majestic views of the area. The first 4 hours the road will be uphill to the highest point, then we will descend for 2 hours approx. until the place of our lunch Huayraqmachay (3850 m of height). After lunch we have 3 hours more of hiking (descending) to our camp called Chaullay (2820 m high).

Day 3

CHALLWAY VALLEY - LA PLAYA - AGUAS CALIENTES
Around 5am we will have energetic breakfast and continue hiking along the canyon, we will appreciate the beautiful sunrise. We will walk for about 5 hours toward Playa Sahuayaco and during this period; we will observe a town called Collpabamba, also called the "Forest Cloudy Brow" where waterfalls, fruit-bearing trees, varied flora, and birds can be observed in the green canyon. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe the famous Peruvian bird called the "Cock of the Rocks'. Once at Playa Sahuayaco, we will take a local bus to drive us to the hydroelectric of the area. At about 1pm we will have our lunch at the hydroelectric canyon, were we will rest for half hour until the train departure. Around 3pm we will aboard the train from hydroelectric and 1 hour of travel to Aguas Calientes town (2000m). Here, you have the option of going to the thermal hot springs. We will have dinner at 7pm and accommodation at comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes

Day 4

AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO
This day we wake up early at 4:00 am, to take the first bus to the archaeological site of Machupicchu, appreciate the sunrise and take the first photos of Machupicchu. The guided tour in this place will be 2 hours aprox. And then they will have free time to visit and take photos of other places in Machupicchu. After visiting all of Machupicchu we head to the bus station and return to the town of Aguas Calientes and the train station. We will take the train (Expedition) for an hour and forty minutes to the station of Ollantaytambo. Then, take our private bus to Cusco – Hotel.
