Mountain Broad Peak (8 051 m / 26 414 ft)

Broad Peak (8,047 m) is the third highest of them. It is without doubt the most impressive mountain in the Baltoro area next to the K2. One of its key characteristics, which make it one of the most interesting mountains to ascend, is the very direct route, which is used to ascend it.

Broad Peak is named for the breadth of its summit, but the locals call it Falchan Kangri (The broader peak). The height of main peak is 8,051 meters/26,414 feet. The route to the summit involves a 3,150 meter ascent from the base camp on the West Spur and North Ridge. This involves some scrambling weaves of snow and rock to the crest of Spur. The route beyond is entirely on glacier, with occasional ice walls over 7,500 meters. A well defined route leads from the Col at 7,800 to the summit. Broad Peak is the 4th highest peak in Pakistan and the 12th highest peak of the world. Broad Peak is situated approximately 9 kilometers from K-2 along the Baltoro Glacier with the approach route from Skardu and the Village of Askole.

Broad Peak is part of the Gasherbrum massif in Baltistan on the border of Pakistan and China.[1] It is located in the Karakoram mountain range about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from K2. It has a summit over 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) long, thus "Broad Peak".[5] The mountain has several summits: Broad Peak (8051 m), Rocky Summit (8028 m), Broad Peak Central (8011 m), Broad Peak North (7490 m), and Kharut Kangri (6942 m).

Arrive to Islamabad - Drive to Chilas - Drive to Skardu - Drive to Thongal/Askole - Trek to Base Camp.

You need a permit to climb the peak, which you can get hold either via the Ministry of Tourism.
