Mountain Ismoil Somoni Peak (7 495 m / 24 590 ft)

Pik Kommunizma, former Soviet Union's and Pamir's highest peak. It is one of the five Snow Leopard mountains. The peak is infamous for its poor rock and avalanche danger on some routes. These factors doesn't deter a number of climbers from all over the world to attempt the peak every year. The highest peak in every area is like a magnet to mountaineers and Pik Kommunizma is no exception. For many mountaineers, this peak from the Soviet era represents professional mountaineering - go here acclimate great Soviet athletes. Ascent of Communism - is both a challenge. Plus Mount is available in terms of transport and here there is the necessary infrastructure - transportation, base camp.

One of the three seventhousanders located on the territory of Tajikistan. The general list the highest peaks of the world is on the 50th place. To the north and north-west of the summit are large glaciers Fortambek and Moskvina, Walter. In the north- east and east drain glaciers Ordzhonikidze and Communism, is the source of the glacier Bivachny. To the south from the top of a glacier located Belyaeva, is the source of Garmo glacier. South and south-west tip of breaks steep walls. Towards the top are a few dozen routes passed at different times, high complexity. Most Popular - the classic route from the north Borodkina (c Walter glacier) and west along the edge "Petrel" (glacier Fortambek). Located at the junction of ridges Academy of Sciences and Peter, 13 kilometers from the peak Korjenevskaya. It is located on the territory of modern Tajikistan.

By helicopter from Dushanbe to Moskvina glade where the Base camp (4100) located. Or by car Dushanbe - Jirgital with further flight with heli to Base Camp.

In 1999 to commemorate the 1100 anniversary of Samanide Dynasty, Tajikistan hosted the international mountaineering activities, and the original "communism peak" was renamed "Ishmael Sama Nifeng", there are 75 climbers participated in the mountaineering activities.
