On average our mountain guides have made it to the summit over 100 times each. Very few local companies offer guides any training in part because they rely solely on freelancers. However, all our mountain and safari guides have taken a special course on issues related to high-altitude acclimatization process and they’re all internationally WAFA (Wilderness First Aid) Certified.

We organize about 200 climbs a year and use quality 4 season tents and other gear produced by high-tech brands. Our guides carry pulse oximeters and medical oxygen on every climb to predict and manage all signs of mountain sickness.

As the highest peak in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the entire world, Kili is home to a variety of ecosystems and microclimates. Everything from tropical forests to subzero alpine environments await up here.

Kilimanjaro is a beast of a mountain, but our skilled staff and dedicated support crews are always ready to help you get the best of it. Our team of porters carries all the equipment and supplies. Meals consist of local and international cuisine and our cooks can accommodate special requests.

Testimonials

MICHAEL, Tripadvisor

Altezza was exceptionally professional and customer focused from start to finish. Our guide and driver Vincent was taking very good care of us, showing us the best spots, communicating with rangers and other guides to make every day successful.

CHARLES, TourRadar

Joseph, Julius, Philimone, and all the assistants made us feel safe and welcome. Anna, our goto person for logistics had everything at her finger tips. Happy to recommend Altezza for Kilimanjaro!

CARY, NORTH CAROLINA

Altezza facilitated a fantastic climb Mount Kilimanjaro . Thanks Demitry for being a prompt and great communicator. The gear list and ground arrangements were on point. Very special thanks.

ALEXB00KER

Thank you Altezza Travel for the trip of a lifetime! Everything was planned to perfection and we felt cared for for the entirety of the trip! At the beginning we had a thorough gear check with the agent to make sure we had enough warm layers. We had medical checks daily from them to check our oxygen and heart rate levels. We also got cute little bunny rabbit hot water bottles every night for extra comfort which made the rest of the hikers a bit jealous!

Additional information

PREPARATION

PREPARATION

It’s a perfectly achievable for healthy travelers with a moderate degree of physical fitness. The best way to prepare is to hike and hill-walk wherever you can in the weeks leading up to your departure. You should be comfortable walking four to eight hours per day.

VACCINATION & VISA

VACCINATION & VISA

Single entry Visas can be obtained on arrival at the International Airports. There are no compulsory vaccinations for Tanzania apart from the routine vaccinations imposed on you by Western medicine.

ACCLIMATIZATION

ACCLIMATIZATION

The air at the summit contains about half of the breathable oxygen most of us are used to at sea level. Everyone will handle the high altitude and thinner air differently, which is why we try to keep the ascent slow and steady.
