A team of four from the Adare Uniting Church are taking on the challenge of participating in the Adelaide Coastrek 30km walk to be held on the Fleurieu coast in September.
Walking with a cause: Lindsay Pryde, Margie Field, Jaelene Slade and Barb Gepp busy training for the Adelaide Coastrek
Margie Field, Barb Gepp, Jaelene Slade and Lindsay Pryde are busy training for the event and hope to raise over $2000 for Beyond Blue.
The Coastrek event raises money for the Beyond Blue organisation to support mental health and wellbeing in Australia.
Beyond Blue's vision for people across the country is to achieve their best possible mental health. Last year, Coastrek teams from all over Australia participated and raised almost $1 million for Beyond Blue and brought many visitors to the area.
Beginning in Victor Harbor, all trekkers will walk to Goolwa along the coastline. A 60km trek will also take place as part of the event with trekkers beginning at Parsons Beach.
The trek is challenging both physically and mentally and the Adare team is busy with a training regime which involves walking, climbing and trekking in preparation for the event.
Adare's trekking will host a Devonshire Afternoon Tea as part of their fundraising effort on Wednesday June 12 at 2:00pm in the Adare Uniting Church Hall. Entertainment will be provided by the Victor Harbor Country Scottish Dancing Group, and there will also be a Silent Auction and other surprises.
Everyone is welcome for a great afternoon of friendship and fun with a note donation to Beyond Blue appreciated.
