At AMG, mountaineering is a way of life. We love what we do and we enjoy sharing our passion with others. Climbing Aconcagua is a big undertaking, full of adventure, hard work and with great rewards for the well-prepared. Our goal is to provide you the best opportunity to reach the highest summit in the Americas in a safe and enjoyable manner. During our 36 years of guiding Aconcagua, we have developed an excellent program that achieves this goal better than any other company. We look forward to sharing this experience with you.
Our guides, known to be the finest on the mountain, lead not only AMG climbs, but also trips for other renowned guide services in our industry. Several of our lead guides have ascended Aconcagua over 30 times, and all are certified by AAGM (Argentinean Association of Mountain Guides), and the EPGAMT (School of High Mountain and Trekking Guides) — the two highest certifications in Argentina. All of our guides are well-vetted, as we believe guides play a vital role in our clients’ experience, and we understand our reputation truly lies in their hands.
Most of the companies have narrow number of starting dates of the climbs. That limits the travelers flexibility and not always convenient.
We are different in that approach and offer a vast variety of starting dates - almost every day - to fit your schedules and desires.
We had an amazing experience with our guide, Matoco. We would not have had such a perfect ascent and a safe trip overall had it not been for him. Other aspects also worked really well, we are super happy with AMG and our trip could not have gone any better!
Completed an expedition on Aconcagua in December 2017 with Aconcagua Mountain Guides. Ranks as one of my most enjoyable expeditions thanks to outstanding logistics, helpful staff, experienced guides and a beautiful mountain. I can strongly recommend AMG. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
AMG is our good and trusting long-term partner. Working with them since 2016, we constantly make everything work more and more smoothly, improve the comfort of the clients and sometimes are able to make absolutely unique logistical steps. We don’t want to improve anything at the moment – all great. Thank you and stay in touch, my friends.
The customer service was personal, very responsive and very helpful in the preparation of the trip. I have highly appreciated the arrangements made to enable me to join the expedition group despite a late arrival due to a strike at the Buenos Aires airport.
Aconcagua Mountain Guides offers excellent guided expeditions as well as the highest quality and most comprehensive logistical services on the mountain.
Our expeditions are limited to 12 climbers, a climber-to-guide ratio is one guide for every 3-4 team members. Small teams with low climber-to-guide ratios allow us to assist climbers more, resulting into higher rates of successful climbs to the summit.
All EU and US citizens are not required to have a visa before arriving in Argentina.
Your guide will carry a first aid kit all the time during your climb. However, please bring your own medicine in case you need any of prescribed items. There are a few drug stores in Mendoza so you won’t have any problem with all basic treatments.
Climbers should be prepared to take care of themselves in cold environments. This means knowing how to control body temperature by hydrating well, wearing multiple layers of clothing to maintain body heat, and eating sufficiently (regularly throughout the day) to maintain strength.
At no additional cost, we employ porters to strategically assist climbers in carrying loads. Porters will move tents between all camps and carry all group gear between Camp Canada and Nido de Cóndores. Team members can also hire additional porters to carry their personal gear.
Our guides are responsible for providing safety on all kinds of mountain relief. They have a radio, GPS, a mobile telephone, all necessary group equipment. All guests should have medical insurance in case of incidents which can cover all expenses in emergency.
