An American climber has died on Mt Ama Dablam as the autumn climbing season comes to a close.
According to the expedition organiser, Steven Biem, 47, breathed his last while descending the 6,812 metre-peak.
Steve along with other team members made it to the summit of Mt Ama Dablam yesterday afternoon.
Steve was a member of the expedition led by British mountaineer Tim Mosedale, sources at the Ama Dablam Base Camp told THT. “Fellow climbers found him dead at Camp II this morning.” His death was attributed to high-altitude pulmonary edema, the sources claimed.
Efforts were underway to airlift his body to Kathmandu by conducting a long-line operation from Lukla, it added.
Earlier, 33-year-old Michael Geoffrey Davis from Australia died above Camp II when a huge rock fell from the high camp of Mt Ama Dablam.
