A group of climbers today scaled the world's tenth highest peak making the season's first successful summit of the peak above 8000m.
According to Mingma Sherpa, Chairman at Seven Summit Treks (SST), Lakpa Dendi Sherpa, Mingma Tenji Sherpa and Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, along with other climbers stood atop the peak at around 11:40 am.
According to Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Director of the SST, the entire team touched the final couloir on their summit push at around 9 am today.
Along with high altitude Sherpas, at least 44 climbers including seven Nepali women representing four teams have already reached the high camps of Mt Annapurna in an attempt to scale 8091-metre peak in the spring season, according to the department of tourism.
The seven women would be the first women to scale the mountain.
The climbing members of the expedition include Alvarez Chavez Viridiana, Lu Chung Han, Uta lbrahimi, Antonis Sykaris, Badia Briseida Bonilla Luna, Mauricio Ernsto Lopez Ahumada, Mosses Fiamoncin, Purnima Shrestha, Lakpa Dendi Sherpa, Gesman Tamang, Lakpa Temba Sherpa, Tashi Sherpa, Pemba Sherpa, Chhangba Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Angiolo Wolfgang Lavizino, Jaroslaw Zdanowicz, Waldemar Dominik Kowalewski, Mingma Tenji Sherpa, Sergei Kondrashkin, Dmitrii Sinev, and Aleksandr Lutokhin, among others.
More than 30 climbers made it to the summit. Among them are climbers Hong Dong Juan, Gao Li, Sirbaz Khan, Muhammad Abdul, Gina Marie, Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, Dawa Gyalje Sherpa, Dawa Yangjum Sherpa, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, Dabhuti Sherpa, Pasang Namgya Sherpa, Phur Gyalzen Sherpa, Tamting Sherpa, Pema Tenzin Sherpa, Lakpa Dendi Sherpa, Viridiana Alvarez, Uta Ibrahimi, Mingma Tenzi Sherpa, Chhangwa Sherpa, Poornima Shrestha, Pemba Sherpa, Badia Bonilla, Mauricio, Lhakpa Temba Sherpa, Antonis Sykaris, Dawa Sherpa, Jaroslaw Zdanowicz, Waldemar Domnik Kowalewski.
Dawa Yangjung, Dabhuti Sherpa, Purnima Shrestha, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa are among the first Nepali women to reach the summit. Likewise, Maya Sherpa, President at Everest Summiteers Association, also made it to summit. A total of five Nepali women made it to the summit today.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Mangesh Mohite became the first Indian woman to reach the Annapurna summit.
Along with Mohite, managing director at Pioneer Adventure Treks Mingdorchi Sherpa, Sanu Sherpa, Pema Chhiring Sherpa, Indian climber Bhagwan Chaulee, and Hu Tao from China also scaled Mt Annapurna, chairman at Pioneer Adventure Treks Pasang Sherpa, said.
