49 years old climber Kami Rita Sherpa who already climbed Mt. Everest 22 times, left the Base Camp for his 23rd ascent of Everest scheduling the summit push on the 15th of May 2019.

According to Chairman of 14 Peak Expedition and Director of Seven Summit Treks Tashi Sherpa, Kami, inhabitant of Thame Village of Solukhumbu, officially started his climbing on the 12th of May. “In 2018 Kami climbed Mt Everest for 22nd time leading a team of SST, now it would be another heroic achievement in the history of mountaineering if he climbs Everest/ We are also making a documentary named STEP 23 based on Kami’s journey to the top of the world” Sherpa added.
Kami Rita has also climbed Annapurna IV in 1996, Cho Oyu 8188m for 8 times from 2001 to 2011, Lhotse 8,516m in 2011, Mt. K2 (8,611m) in 2014, and Manaslu (8,163) in 2017. Till the date he has so far made 34 successful summits of eight-thousanders.
Binod Adhikari, a renowned film maker, and Tashi Sherpa both will be producing a documentary on Kami’s climbing and his adventurous life’s journey. “The name of this documentary movie will be STEP 23 as Kami will be stepping his foot to the summit of Everest for 23rd times.” THN Report.
