Austrian mountaineer Hansjörg Auer has completed a solitary ascent of Lupghar Sar West, a 7181 meter peak in the Karakoram, Pakistan.
What is really important: he is back safe and sound in base camp.
After having acclimatised by spending 3 nights up to 6000 m on the SW Ridge of La Rochele, and after having checked out the approach to the West Face, Auer waited for the weather window. This arrived after only a short break, two days ago and at present all that is known is that he reached the summit at 11:30 local time yesterday and that in his first short message he stated that the ascent had been "very interesting."
